MCM London Comic Con, May 2015

MCM

Here I am again, reporting on MCM London Comic Con. One might think that I would get bored with the same conventions all the time, but that is far from the case. This year the MCM Comic Con was particularly well run and I had an amazing time with old friends and made new ones, as well.

First a few stats about the con – it was three full days, 22nd-24th of May. The post-show press release states that 122,634 visitors passed through the doors of the Excel Centre in the Docklands of East London. The show encompassed everything from comic books, anime, manga, movies, videogames, and cosplay (or costuming, depending on how you feel about it). I was once more provided with a press pass and used it to navigate in and out successfully. There were panels with stars from TV, film, and beyond, most of whom were available for photo opportunities with the fans. Just to drop a few names: Gillian Anderson (Robot Overlords), Felicia Day (The Guild, Supernatural), Nick Blood and Iain De Caestecker (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and Doctor Who’s Sylvester McCoy.

But enough statistics. Here’s what I go to cons for – the people and the costumes.

MCM London Comic Con is still the largest con I’ve attended, and simply put – the best one. Hopefully I’ll have the chance to give a report with lots of photos next year, as well.
