The Continuing Adventures of Launch Pad Astronomy Workshop Man

LaunchPadYesterday evening the Launch Pad Astronomy Workshop Team accompanied Launch Pad Astronomy Workshop Man on a tour of the planets, beginning with Venus,

june-2015-venusthen on to Jupiter and its four Galilean moons,

april-2015-jupiterthen out to Saturn (displaying its rings in all their glory),

saturn-and-moons_0630-012915back home to Luna (which had just passed beyond Full Moon stage)

mercury-retrograde-june-2015-full-moonbefore returning to their secret base nestled within the campus of the University of Wyoming at Laramie. (Secret Base Location redacted.)

Earlier in the day, the LPAW Team investigated the scale of the universe (no mean feat) and discovered that it is ENORMOUS.

To put it another way, the universe’s size is truly

BEYOND HUMAN COMPREHENSION

The team also looked into the formation of the solar system and discussed the existence of “cosmic schmutz” (which apparently makes up just about everything – further investigation warranted), the types and classifications of planets (Ice Giants may exist in literature, but Neptune and Uranus got there first).

The group then experienced an extended bout of Lunacy before discussing the effects of calendrical systems on culture, and of cultural effects on calendar systems (you can lose days, man!).  Largely has something to do with seasons.

All well and good for spending a day in Wyoming, but what’s the point?  The team needs a mission (without a mission, Launch Pad Astronomy Workshop Man would not need a Team of Intrepid Experts at Things.)

Fortunately, all was revealed at the close of the meeting….

Stay Tuned for the Further Adventures of Launch Pad Astronomy Workshop Man and the Launch Pad Astronomy Workshop Team of Intrepid Experts at Things!
